Molycop warmly welcomed five inspiring young beneficiaries from its "A Child, Our Commitment" sponsorship program, a collaborative effort with the Municipality of Talcahuano. The program is designed to provide vital financial support to students as they navigate the intricate pathways of education.
Under the guidance of Jazmín Sanhueza, the municipal program coordinator, the young beneficiaries were warmly received by representatives of Molycop, including Oliva Cavallar, Ana Cáceres, Carmen Gloria Figueroa, Juan Fredes, Humberto Cuevas, Alejandro Aravena, Rodrigo Escalona, and Andrés Mellado.
These remarkable individuals, aged 12 to 31, are pursuing diverse academic journeys, from high school to professional studies. This event showcased Molycop's commitment to the community's well-being, transcending conventional corporate responsibility and becoming a driving force for positive change.
Among the participants were Yarixa Quilapi, a 17-year-old high school student, and Rocío Ortega, a 12-year-old seventh-grade student, who explored Molycop's facilities, gaining insights into the world of industry and corporate engagement. Karina Triviño, 19, pursuing Cosmetology at AIEP, and Eyssi Jara, a 31-year-old Psychology student at UST, also participated. Despite facing a disability, Eyssi showcased remarkable resilience on her educational journey.
Regrettably, Byron Seguel, a 23-year-old Nutrition student at UCSC, was unable to attend at the last minute, underscoring the unpredictable nature of individual circumstances.
This meeting epitomizes Molycop's commitment to education and community welfare. The company adopts a holistic approach, offering annual scholarships as an investment in the future rather than a mere financial aid. These scholarships cover a spectrum of expenses associated with education, contributing to individual growth, family support, and the social fabric of Talcahuano.
The "A Child, Our Commitment" program, initiated in 1995 by the Municipality of Talcahuano under Mayor Leocan Portus, goes beyond conventional corporate social responsibility. It invites private enterprises to actively participate in nurturing the potential of local youth. The collaboration involves sustained financial support, periodically evaluated to align with each student's commitment and academic achievements.
Molycop's engagement in this program underscores its dedication to education and the development of future leaders, creating a positive ripple effect within the Talcahuano community that extends far beyond corporate boundaries.
The visit concluded with expressions of gratitude from the young beneficiaries. Molycop and the Municipality of Talcahuano, recognizing the significance of this ongoing collaboration, renewed their commitment to strengthen the ties that drive the growth and academic success of local students.
In sharing this story, Molycop aspires to inspire a collective spirit of community engagement and emphasize the belief that every investment in education is an investment in the future.
