Creating a safe and healthy workplace requires more than policies and procedures. It requires a proactive approach to employee wellbeing, early intervention, and ongoing care.

Recently, the Medical Services team at Molycop's operations in Mexico delivered the Pre-POE's 2026 Preventive Health Campaign, a comprehensive health initiative designed to identify potential health risks, promote preventive care, and strengthen occupational health outcomes across the workforce.

Taking a proactive approach to employee wellbeing

Developed following a review of health trends and medical consultations throughout the year, the campaign focused on practical measures that support both employee wellbeing and workplace safety.

Rather than relying solely on periodic occupational examinations, the initiative sought to identify health concerns at an earlier stage and provide employees with access to assessment, guidance, and follow-up support when needed.

Supporting prevention through comprehensive health assessments

The program included a broad range of health assessments and preventive services, including mental health screening, oral health checks, vision testing, cardiometabolic risk assessments, nutritional evaluations, immunisation updates, and gastrointestinal health prevention measures.

By offering a holistic range of services, the campaign aimed to provide employees with a better understanding of their overall health while encouraging proactive management of potential risks.

Connecting health and workplace safety

These activities recognise the important relationship between health, wellbeing, and safety. Early identification of conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, vision impairment, stress-related concerns, and other health risks can help employees access appropriate support sooner while contributing to a safer working environment.

Preventive health programs such as this not only support individual wellbeing but also help strengthen a culture of safety and care across the workplace.

A holistic approach to occupational health

A key strength of the campaign was its comprehensive approach. Alongside physical health assessments, the initiative incorporated mental health and wellbeing measures, reflecting a broader understanding of the factors that contribute to workforce health, engagement, and performance.

The campaign also reinforced a preventative occupational health model, using the findings gathered to help inform future health monitoring and support programs tailored to employee needs.

Recognising those behind the initiative

Congratulations to Dr. Nely Melody Ávila García, the Medical Services team, site leadership, and everyone involved in planning and delivering the campaign. Their commitment to prevention, employee care, and continuous improvement demonstrates the value of investing in the health and wellbeing of people.

We also recognise our colleagues in Mexico for their participation and engagement throughout the program. Initiatives such as these are most effective when employees actively embrace opportunities to better understand and manage their health.

A continued commitment to healthier workplaces

At its core, the campaign serves as an important reminder that our people are our most valuable resource and that supporting their wellbeing is fundamental to creating safer, healthier, and more sustainable workplaces.

Through initiatives focused on prevention, education, and early intervention, Molycop continues to support the long-term health and wellbeing of its employees while strengthening a culture of care across its operations.
