From full-cycle MillSlicer deployments to global knowledge-sharing, Vancouver-based Instrumentation Engineer Rayneth Law unlocks the full potential of Molycop’s digital technologies for customers.
Key Facts
- Vancouver-based Molycop Instrumentation Engineer Rayneth Law supports North American mining sites by deploying and optimising Molycop’s digital tools, including MillSlicer and VIP Platform.
- His work enables sites to reduce energy use, improve throughput and minimise equipment failure by using real-time data insights.
- With a passion for technology and collaboration, Rayneth exemplifies Molycop’s global culture of innovation, support and continuous improvement.
Rayneth plays a key role supporting Molycop customers across North America by helping them unlock the full potential of Molycop’s digital technologies – particularly MillSlicer, a real-time mill vibration analysis tool, and browser-based VIP Platform, which enables remote diagnostics and data insights.
“Our clients count on us every rotation of the mill,” Rayneth explains. “They trust us to assess, understand and solve problems quickly because downtime isn’t an option.”
Molycop: A global business, connected by knowledge
Molycop operates in more than 40 countries and offers a comprehensive portfolio that spans forged and cast grinding media, flotation chemicals, mineral processing instrumentation, technical consulting and digital optimisation tools. The company’s reach is global, while its collaboration is local, fast and personal.Rayneth’s work connects frontline operators with cutting-edge tools and insights, bridging the gap between data and day-to-day decision-making.
If one site is seeing success, we share that knowledge across the network. That shared learning and constant evolution is part of what makes Molycop stand out.
Optimisation with digital tools
Rayneth supports the full lifecycle of MillSlicer deployments, from pre-commissioning assessments to on-site installation, calibration and optimisation. These deployments enable sites to reduce energy usage, cut down on broken media and liner failures, and drive throughput improvements.Using Molycop’s VIP Platform, Rayneth can also support clients from anywhere – even while travelling.
“We’ve made real financial impacts for sites,” Rayneth says. “And when they see the results, they become true believers in the power of digital tools.”
A natural fit at Molycop
Rayneth’s passion for engineering runs deep. With parents who worked in computer engineering, he was always drawn to technology and problem-solving. After discovering mineral processing during his first year at the University of British Columbia, he knew he’d found his niche. After working at a number of sites and seeing Molycop’s reputation up close, I knew this was where I wanted to be. I joined the team in 2019 and haven’t looked back.
Despite being based in Vancouver and working remotely, Rayneth says he’s never felt more connected to his colleagues.
“There’s an open-door culture across Molycop. Even across departments and time zones, people are quick to collaborate, share insights and support each other.”
From his early days in media supply to now helping sites implement cutting-edge instrumentation, Rayneth’s journey reflects Molycop’s broader commitment to internal growth and knowledge-sharing.
“My office is essentially a control room. It’s unique, challenging and incredibly rewarding,” he says.
What’s next: Leading digital transformation
Rayneth is passionate about helping reshape how mining is perceived, both inside and outside the industry. The efficiencies we’re helping achieve – less power, less waste – are huge. We’re not just optimising mills; we’re shaping a more sustainable future.
As for his goal? Rayneth explains he wants to continue developing as a leader and help guide the next wave of digital transformation in mining.
