Supporting education in remote regions of Namibia
Molycop is pleased to announce its support for Nakayale Academy for Orphans and Marginalised Children, an established community-based organisation in north-western Namibia providing education and care for orphaned and marginalised children from remote rural areas. Access to education remains a significant challenge for many children living in isolated regions of Namibia. Geographic distance, limited infrastructure, and socioeconomic hardship continue to prevent young people from accessing safe, consistent learning environments.
A holistic boarding school model
Nakayale Academy for Orphans and Marginalised Children was established to address these challenges. Operating as a full-boarding school, the Academy provides a structured learning environment alongside accommodation, daily meals, healthcare, and emotional support—recognizing that education outcomes are closely linked to wellbeing and stability.Building the partnership through local engagement
This partnership was introduced through B2Gold Namibia, whose long-standing involvement with the school and surrounding community played an important role in connecting Molycop with Nakayale. We acknowledge and thank B2Gold Namibia for their leadership in community development and for facilitating this collaboration. The relationship has been developed through careful engagement with local stakeholders and the Nakayale leadership team, led by Eduardo Alvarez, our Business Development Manager, long years in Africa.
Supporting proven, community-led outcomes
“Nakayale is a well-established organisation with a clear focus on education, safety, and child wellbeing,” said Eduardo Alvarez. Our role has been to understand the needs of the community and support an initiative that is already delivering tangible, long-term outcomes for children and families.
Nakayale’s model combines small class sizes, learner-centred education, and holistic care, creating an environment where children can develop academically, socially, and emotionally. For many students, the Academy represents their first opportunity to learn in a safe and supportive setting.
Respecting local leadership and long-term impact
“This partnership reflects a locally led solution to a very real challenge,” Eduardo added. It is important that support is delivered in a way that respects the community and builds on existing strengths. Thanks to the Nakayele team for making us so privileged to be a modest part of this educational project and your invitation to take me to the school next June.
