Molycop Masterclass strengthens partnerships

Key Facts

  • Earn 6 AusIMM PD hours while gaining practical, site-ready insights into milling, media performance and digital optimisation.
  • Participants receive real-world training by working through actual scenarios, analysing data and developing skills they can use immediately.
  • Learn how to apply Molycop’s latest tools and models – like the Mill Family Model – to improve performance in your specific milling environment.
For Fraser Leslie, Sales Manager for Grinding Media, the upcoming Molycop Masterclass in Kalgoorlie is more than a technical training event. It represents the heart of Molycop’s approach to customer relationships: long-term partnerships, shared learning and ongoing support.

According to Fraser:
Grinding media is not just a product – it’s part of a broader partnership. Our role is to stand alongside our customers, understand their unique milling environments and provide technical support that helps them achieve measurable improvements.

A practical, high-impact training event

On 16 October 2025, mining professionals will gather at Curtin University’s Western Australian School of Mines (WASM) campus in Kalgoorlie for a full-day Masterclass program. Designed to deliver hands-on learning, the session will cover topics including milling fundamentals, grinding media interactions and the design and analysis of plant trials.

Participants will also hear from Molycop experts on digital optimisation, advanced instrumentation and the Mill Family Model – a powerful new way of understanding grinding environments. Attendees can log six AusIMM Professional Development (PD) hours, making this not only a learning opportunity but also a professional career milestone.

According to Fraser, the format is what sets Molycop Masterclasses apart. “Unlike traditional training, this is built for action. Attendees don’t just listen to presentations, they work through real-world scenarios, analyse data and walk away with tools they can use immediately.”

Building on global success

The Kalgoorlie event follows the success of the Molycop Masterclass in Indonesia, where hundreds of participants engaged in in-person, site-relevant training earlier this year. The response reinforced Molycop’s belief that there is strong demand for practical, immersive training that goes beyond theory.

“The feedback from Indonesia was clear,” Fraser says. “People valued the opportunity to step away from the day-to-day and really focus on applied learning. It gave them confidence to go back to site and make changes that delivered results.”

Supporting customers beyond the classroom

For Fraser, the Masterclass is also a powerful demonstration of Molycop’s commitment to customers. In addition to the public Kalgoorlie event, Molycop will host two private Masterclasses in Western Australia for some of its most valued mining partners. These invitation-only sessions are tailored to site-specific needs, creating an environment for deeper collaboration and targeted problem-solving.

“Hosting private Masterclasses is our way of saying: we’re invested in your success,” Fraser explains. “It’s not a transaction – it’s a partnership. These private sessions give us a chance to listen, exchange ideas and work side by side with our customers on the issues that matter most to them.”

He adds: “The Masterclass is also a chance to catch up face-to-face. These events are as much about people as they are about process. It’s about reconnecting, sharing experience, and making sure our partners feel supported every step of the way.”

A partnership approach

Fraser’s perspective reflects Molycop’s broader philosophy: that technical support, services and shared expertise are just as important as the grinding media itself. With over 100 years of mining experience and partnerships with more than 400 mines across 40 countries, Molycop sees training as another way to deliver value.

Our customers know they can rely on Molycop not just for supply, but for solutions. The Masterclass program is one more example of how we back our products with technical services, knowledge and global expertise. We’re here to help our partners optimise performance, control costs and achieve their goals.

Fraser encourages attendees to take advantage of the opportunity to learn and connect. “If you’re joining us in Kalgoorlie, please reach out to me on the day,” he says. “I’ll be happy to help connect you with the right expert based on your unique requirements.”
