Molycop partnered with Hecla Mining Company for a hands-on Masterclass, equipping their metallurgy and process engineering teams with data-driven insights to enhance grinding performance and plant efficiency.
Key Facts
- The Masterclass brought together Hecla’s metallurgy and process engineering teams for an interactive, one-day technical training program.
- Participants explored how Molycop Tools, data and modelling enhance decision-making and optimise comminution and circuit performance.
- The collaboration reflects Molycop’s commitment to sharing expertise, fostering innovation and helping customers achieve continuous operational improvement.
Led by Molycop’s technical specialists, the session was designed to help participants deepen their understanding of comminution principles, energy efficiency and circuit optimisation. Through the practical application of Molycop Tools, participants explored how data, modelling and process insights can be used to enhance decision-making and optimise grinding performance.
Jared Lewis, Sales Manager, Molycop Canada, was full of praise for the way the day went:
The Hecla team was fantastic to work with. Their engagement and questions throughout the day showed a genuine commitment to improving processes and a passion for continuous learning.

Practical learning and collaboration
Throughout the day, discussions moved from the fundamentals of power and energy to more advanced topics such as Bond’s equation for ball mill optimisation, classification systems, SAG mill circuits, liner performance and emerging technologies. The training also explored Molycop’s growing technology portfolio and how the company’s digital and process solutions enable mining companies to unlock new levels of performance and sustainability. The format was deliberately hands-on and conversational, encouraging participants to share their experiences, test new concepts and apply Molycop Tools to real operational scenarios.
Jared said Molycop’s goal with its Masterclasses to create an environment where knowledge flows in both directions:
When we share what we’ve learned and listen to the challenges our customers face, we grow together – and that’s what progress looks like.
Molycop extends its thanks to Hecla Mining Company for the opportunity to collaborate in the pursuit of success.
