Bringing fresh energy, technical expertise and a passion for sustainable mining to support optimisation efforts across the region, Ezequiel Castillo has joined the Molycop Digital team in Mexico as a Junior Process Engineer.

From a small mining town in Zacatecas, one of the most important districts in Mexico for mining zinc, lead, silver and gold, Ezequiel’s path into the mining industry was shaped by his studies in Metallurgical Engineering at UPIIZ-IPN, one of Mexico’s top technical universities, and was enriched by an academic exchange at VSB – Technical University of Ostrava in the Czech Republic.
Before joining Molycop, Ezequiel gained valuable experience working in copper producer Capstone Copper’s metallurgical lab, conducting sampling campaigns and data analysis across comminution and flotation circuits. He also contributed to process optimisation projects during his time with Flottec Mexico and Nalco Water.
Building a sustainable mining industry
Having joined Molycop’s growing Digital team, Ezequiel is undergoing intensive training in grinding, classification and leaching. He’s already supporting site visits and technical assessments, and is passionate about using his knowledge to drive innovation and efficiency for customers across Mexico and beyond.What excites me most is the chance to work with experts who share my goal of building a more sustainable mining industry. I want to help customers reduce energy and reagent consumption while improving performance.
In his first year with Molycop, he’s focused on strengthening his technical capabilities and becoming a trusted advisor to customers and internal teams. His approach is rooted in curiosity, continuous improvement and a belief that there’s always a better, safer, more efficient way to do things.
Outside of work, Ezequiel enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring local art and nature, and investing in his personal wellbeing.
