Applications Engineer Erika Duran joins Molycop Mexico to deliver tailored, data driven solutions for mining partners.

Key Facts

  • Erika Duran has joined Molycop in Mexico as Applications Engineer to support customers across the region.
  • Erika brings five years’ experience in plant operations and process control to the role, including grinding and flotation circuits.
  • Her focus will be on helping mining partners optimise grinding circuits and improve operational efficiency through tailored, data-driven improvements.
Molycop has appointed Erika Duran as Applications Engineer in Mexico, reinforcing the company’s commitment to practical, research‑driven support for mining partners. Erika brings a strong academic foundation and more than five years of hands-on plant experience to help sites optimise circuit performance and decision-making.
Erika is focused on helping mining partners optimise grinding circuits and improve operational efficiency.

A graduate in Chemical Metallurgical Engineering from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Erika began her career at Minera Fresnillo plc. as an Operations Supervisor in a concentrator plant. Her work spanned crushing, SAG and conventional milling, gravity concentration and differential flotation of silver, gold, lead, zinc and iron, as well as downstream operations including thickening, filtering and tailings dam pumping. This experience enabled Erika to build a detailed understanding of mineral processing from first principles.

Expertise in advanced process control

Progressing to Process Control Supervisor, Erika applied technology and statistical tools to monitor and improve plant performance. She managed advanced expert systems for milling and flotation, calibrated online analysers, automated reagent dosing and developed applications using the PI System. This background in applied analytics and plant automation positions her to bridge technology with operational outcomes in complex circuits.

The opportunity to combine technical problem-solving with innovation, along with Molycop’s reputation for delivering practical, research-driven solutions for customers, drew Erika to join the team in Mexico.

Erika says:
I see myself as a bridge between Molycop’s technical expertise and the operational needs of customers. My goal is to deliver solutions that enhance efficiency, reduce costs and unlock long‑term value.

Supporting mining partners across Mexico

Erika says she is “motivated by the opportunities ahead at Molycop, applying engineering principles to solve complex challenges and seeing the results reflected in improved customer satisfaction”.
