Strengthening technical capability in Chile
Molycop is pleased to welcome Matias Mansoulet, Technical Applications Engineer, to our team in Chile—further strengthening our ability to support customers with practical, data-driven solutions across comminution and mineral processing.
A strong foundation in engineering and applied learning
Matias joins Molycop with a background that blends strong academic foundations with hands-on operational experience. During his university years, he worked as a teaching and laboratory assistant across key subjects including gravitational and magnetic concentration, metallurgical thermodynamics, and heat transfer. This early experience helped shape both his technical capability and his ability to communicate complex ideas clearly. His transition into the mining industry came through his degree project at Codelco, within the El Teniente Division. There, he worked alongside the operations team to develop a predictive model focused on optimising filtration plant performance—reinforcing a clear focus on continuous improvement and applied, data-driven thinking.
Bridging engineering analysis and site performance
At Molycop, Matias operates at the intersection of engineering and customer engagement. His role combines technical analysis—such as power modelling, consumption reporting, and advanced simulations—with close collaboration alongside site teams. This enables him to connect comminution and classification performance with downstream process outcomes, supporting a more complete view of plant performance.“I see my role as a bridge between engineering and the customer—connecting technical analysis with what’s actually happening on site,” Matias explains.
This approach reflects a broader opportunity he sees across the industry: the shift toward more structured, data-led decision-making. By applying modelling tools and maintaining control over key operating variables, Matias is focused on helping customers improve stability and achieve more consistent performance.
Choosing impact at the heart of the concentrator
For him, joining Molycop was a deliberate choice—driven by both the technical challenge and the environment.Molycop operates at the heart of the concentrator. It’s a complex part of the process, but also where you can make a real impact.
Now part of Molycop’s global network, Matias is focused on continuing to learn, contribute, and support customers in solving real operational challenges.
Beyond the role
Outside of work, he enjoys staying active—spending time in the gym and playing football—as well as strategy-based video games that focus on teamwork and planning. We welcome Matias to Molycop and look forward to the contribution he will make to our team and to supporting our customers globally.
