Molycop’s Digital Gold team joined the CSIRO in Perth for an intensive cyanide-analysis training program, gaining deeper technical knowledge and hands-on experience with industry-leading tools.
Key Facts
- Participants gained practical experience with the Lab Cynoprobe, Tac-M and O.I. Flowsolution analyser – helping them optimise cyanide testing workflows on site.
- The course explained how accurate cyanide analysis directly boosts plant stability, operational efficiency and regulatory confidence.
- Molycop Process Engineer Omar Sultan supported participants in the hands-on sessions and instructed them in how to apply analytical technology in mining environments.
A key highlight of the course was the hands-on laboratory sessions, where participants gained direct experience using industry-standard analytical tools. Molycop’s Lab Cynoprobe – an advanced cyanide analyser offered by Molycop (product by Mintek) – featured prominently in the practical exercises.
Unlike the Tac-M and the O.I. Flowsolution analyser, the Lab Cynoprobe demonstrated superior performance in measuring FREE and WAD cyanide, providing accurate, fast and reliable readings down to 0.5 ppm. Its compact laboratory format, electrochemical amperometric measurement technique and minimal reagent requirements make it an ideal tool for optimising leaching, CIP, CIL and RIP processes, while reducing operator error and saving time.

Demonstrating the capabilities of the Lab Cynoprobe
Participants completed three laboratory sessions comparing the Lab Cynoprobe, Tac-M, and O.I. Flowsolution analyser. The Lab Cynoprobe consistently delivered more accurate and repeatable results, giving participants confidence in its effectiveness for both routine analysis and process optimisation.Molycop’s team played an active, expert-led role throughout the training. Arqam Tariq, Instrumentation Engineer, attended as a participant, while Omar Sultan, Process Engineer, guided the lab sessions, demonstrating the capabilities of the Lab Cynoprobe and supporting attendees in hands-on exercises. Both are members of Molycop’s Digital Gold team in Perth, bringing their extensive expertise in instrumentation and process optimisation to the program.
Omar noted:
It was rewarding to see participants gain confidence with the Lab Cynoprobe. Hands-on experience is invaluable, and we could clearly see how practical application complements the theory covered in the lectures.
Participants expanded their understanding of cyanide behaviour in mining processes. The course emphasised the broader benefits of accurate cyanide analysis, including improved process stability, enhanced efficiency and greater safety. Participants learned how precise measurements can reduce variability, inform better decision-making and support sustainable practices.
Arqam reflected:
The combination of theoretical and practical learning really helped me understand how to optimise cyanide analysis in our processes. Seeing how the tools work in real time makes a big difference.
The training also underscored Molycop’s commitment to providing high-quality analytical tools and equipping participants with the skills to use them effectively. By combining expert guidance, practical application and cutting-edge instrumentation, Molycop ensures that both internal teams and clients can confidently leverage the full potential of its solutions to optimise mining operations.
Omar added:
Empowering our teams and clients with knowledge is just as important as the technology itself. Training like this ensures everyone can leverage the full potential of our analytical solutions.
Molycop continues to invest in professional development and technical training, reinforcing its role as a trusted partner in advancing operational excellence in complex mining environments.
