Molycop’s Canadian operations have been a cornerstone of mining performance nationwide for nearly four decades. From its Kamloops, British Columbia, facility, the team delivers high-quality grinding media, expert technical support, and has built a reputation on trust and consistency.

As the operation celebrates 39 years in 2025, we spoke with Felix Fornaguera, General Manager of Molycop’s Canada Operations, and Jared Lewis, Sales Manager of Canada, to explore the story behind Molycop Canada and what lies ahead.

A legacy built in Kamloops

Established in 1986, Molycop’s Kamloops facility has supported generations of miners across Canada. What began as a regional plant has become a fully integrated, high-performance operation serving some of the country’s most important mining regions.

“Kamloops is more than just a manufacturing site – it’s a symbol of Molycop’s long-standing commitment to the Canadian mining sector,” says Felix. “We’ve been here for 39 years because we’ve always listened to our customers, invested in our people, and adapted to the industry’s needs.”

Over the decades, the Kamloops site has undergone significant upgrades and improvements in quality, safety and automation. The team’s dedication has helped cement Molycop’s reputation as a reliable and innovative partner in Canadian mining.

Powered by people

The success of the Kamloops operation is driven by its team – a group of experienced, skilled professionals who take pride in their work every day.

“Our people are what make this place special,” Felix explains. “From the plant floor to our logistics and customer support teams, there’s a strong sense of ownership and professionalism that’s been cultivated over many years.”
Felix notes that maintaining Molycop’s global quality and safety standards is a point of pride. “We hold ourselves to the highest levels of operational excellence. That’s what our customers expect from Molycop and what we deliver.”

Partnering with Canadian mines

As the frontline face of Molycop to customers across Canada, Jared Lewis understands the importance of being present and responsive.

“Our customers operate in some of the toughest conditions and most remote locations,” says Jared. “They need a partner who understands their challenges and can provide not just a product, but a solution.”

Molycop’s Canadian team services a wide range of operations, from large gold and copper sites in British Columbia to critical mineral projects in Ontario and Quebec.

“We don’t just deliver grinding media,” Jared explains. “We offer technical support, performance monitoring, and solutions that help optimise the entire milling process. We’re here to make sure every tonne counts.”

Unmatched supply chain strength

A key advantage that sets Molycop Canada apart is its robust and resilient logistics network.

“We’ve developed a strong network of depots and distribution points that allow us to reach customers anywhere in Canada – and even Alaska,” says Felix. “That network has proven its value time and again, especially during challenging times like COVID, rail disruptions and port strikes.”

Despite market disruptions, Molycop has maintained consistent delivery and performance. “No one else in this market can match us on this front,” Jared adds. “Our supply chain strength is a major part of what makes us a trusted partner.”

Adapting to a changing industry

As Canadian mining continues to evolve – with a growing emphasis on efficiency, digitalisation, and sustainability – Molycop is evolving with it.

“Our customers are asking more of their suppliers – and rightly so,” Jared says. “They want to see innovation, data-driven results and support that helps them hit their performance and ESG goals. That’s where Molycop stands out.”

Felix agrees, highlighting the strategic priorities for the future: “We’re focused on continuous improvement, investing in our people, and bringing new technologies and services to market. The Canadian industry is shifting – and we’re ready.”

Looking ahead

As Molycop Kamloops nears its 40-year milestone, the team remains focused on the future – with a clear commitment to local manufacturing, trusted partnerships, unmatched logistics and industry leadership.

“Our strength has always come from being close to our customers,” says Jared. “We listen, we deliver and we adapt. That’s how we’ve stayed relevant for nearly four decades.”

“Molycop has deep roots in Canada,” Felix adds. “And as the industry grows and transforms, we’ll be right there – supporting progress every step of the way.”
