Our team in Peru lend their support to the communities of La Joya and Arequipa.
The best way to overcome this pandemic is through solidarity and empathy.
Over the weeks, we saw how this new coronavirus continued affecting many people in the country’s most vulnerable areas, who, being far from the city, do not have the necessary preventive resources to protect themselves from COVID19.
As an organization, we are committed to making a lasting ad positive contribution to the communities in which we operate. In light of the rapidly increasing new infections in the La Joya area, our team in La Joya realized it was imperative to initiate preventive measures to reduce the spread of the virus any further.
Our logistics team were able to quickly procure and dispatch prevention kits, comprised of KN95 masks, face shields, and alcohol gel, to the residents of the 'Km 48' of the South Panamerican Highway, 'El Triunfo' community, and the surround support network including police stations, municipalities, and first-aid post located in the La Joya District.
After some supply coordination, we contacted the leaders of the AAHH El Progreso, who, in early August, supported us with delivering the kits in all the community houses. They oversaw its distribution ensuring strict safety guidelines were maintained, including physical distancing and the cleaning and disinfection procedures.
In addition, we lent our support to a non-profit organization called 'Reactiva Arequipa', a charity focused on the most vulnerable and isolated elderly citizens with direct donations to assist them to procure much-needed supplies such as oxygen cylinders, pulse oximeters, and preventive kits in the city of Arequipa.
We firmly believe that these small initiatives can be meaningful, especially for these remote communities. We believe that if the communities in which we operate do well, our business also does well. A safe, prosperous and healthy local community means a capable and available workforce and supplier base to support and sustain our business.
Once again, we feel incredibly inspired by our Peruvian team for their commitment to making a difference. Together, we are stronger.
We are Molycop, and we are in the business of liberating value for those we serve.
