  • Size: SAG milling grinding media are available in sizes from 94mm to 160mm or 3.5 inches to 6.25 inches
  • Chemistry: SAG ball chemistry is controlled via a robust internal quality system
  • Hardness: SAG ball hardness is achieved using carefully selected heat treatment variables specifically designed for each alloy
  • Density: The theoretical apparent packing density of the SAG balls in a ball charge is 4,520 kg/m3 or 282 lbs/cu-ft

Overview

Molycop’s range of SAG (semi-autogenous grinding) balls is built for impact and superior wear resistance. Using innovative manufacturing processes Molycop produces a standard SAG ball and the Next Generation (NG) ball. High-carbon alloy steel bars are used in the production of SAG balls with forging and heat treatment processes to provide optimum wear and impact resistance. 

Typical Uses

SAG balls are used primarily by large-scale mining operations to grind ores including copper, gold and iron ore into smaller particles in SAG mills. Molycop’s SAG ball series is used for grinding operations in which high impact breakage resistance and high wear resistance are the main ball attributes required.
