Features

  • Chemistry: The chemistry of Molycop’s high carbon rods is controlled via a robust internal quality system with bar suppliers to optimise physical properties.
  • Hardness: Although not treated to high hardness levels, special thermal processing is employed to ensure soundness and resistance to premature breakage.
  • Standards: Rods are produced with a straightness tolerance of 6mm in any 1.5m length or 4mm per meter run in accordance with various country standards.

Overview

Molycop supplies high carbon steel grinding rods produced from electric furnace steel in diameters 25.4mm to 101.6mm or 1.0 inch to 4.0 inches.

Complete metallurgical control is maintained from melting through rolling and final processing. Although not heat-treated to high hardness, special thermal processing is employed to assure soundness and resistance to premature breakage. 

Typical Uses

Grinding rods are used for grinding media applications by the mining and mineral processing industries. Their elongated shape provides uniform grinding, making them ideal for reducing larger material sizes before further processing.
