Features

  • Use to depress Zn sulfide and Fe sulfide minerals
  • Can be used as an activator for oxidised and tarnished minerals
  • Can be used to depress all sulfides at high dose rates

Overview

Molycop’s NaSH (sodium hydrosulphide) replacement modifier chemicals can be used to improve flotation efficiency, offering a safer, more environmentally friendly alternative to NaSH.

At low dose rates (below 500 g/t), NaSH can be used as to depress Zn sulfide (e.g. sphalerite) and Fe sulfide (e.g. pyrite, pyrrhotite) minerals.

At medium dose rates, it can be used as an activator for oxidised and tarnished minerals. The choice of whether to use NaSH or a NaSH replacement such as sodium sulfide (Na2S) depends on the pH required in flotation, as Na2S is more alkaline. Users should test to verify which works best.

At high dose rates (above 500g/t), NaSH can be used to depress all sulfides (reverse flotation), allowing gangue to float and be removed.

Typical Uses

Molycop’s NaSh replacement modifier chemicals are used by mining operations to improve flotation efficiency, offering a safer, more environmentally friendly alternative to NaSH. These chemicals help control mineral surface chemistry, enhancing collector attachment, improving recovery rates and reducing environmental impact in flotation processes.

Benefits

  • Improve flotation efficiency: Enhance the selectivity and effectiveness of flotation processes, leading to better mineral recovery.
  • Environmental safety: NaSH replacement modifiers are safer and more environmentally friendly compared to traditional NaSH.
  • Reduced handling risks: Reduce risks associated with handling toxic NaSH.

Fosterville Gold Mine: Successful Deployment of Milling Optimisation Technology

Agnico Eagle Fosterville Gold Mine (Fosterville) operates a gold plant in Australia comprising of a crushing and grinding circuit (SAG mill with a closed loop cyclone classification circuit) followed by flotation, bacterial oxidation and leaching circuits. The lack of surge capacity between the grinding and flotation circuit and restrictions on crushing operations due to noise constraints resulted in unique set of challenges, that required the implementation of a novel control solution using advanced instrumentation.
